Here you will find a list of the most common colours or mutations of budgies available as well as a few identifying features of each colour or mutation.
The original colours available are the green and blue series, these later mutated due to cross breeding by fanciers and breeders so now we have a wide range of mutations or colours. Also at the bottom of the page we have a little bit of information on an anthracite (black) budgie, which is very rare.

The Anthracite Budgie info:-
The new mutation or colour budgie is the black or anthracite budgie. People thought it was impossible but it has happened, the anthracite budgie has been classified as a mutation or colour as the first recorded black budgie has given birth to an anthracite/charcoal/black coloured clutch of chicks.

THE GENERAL BODY COLOUR: Rump, breast, flanks and under parts dark anthracite of an even depth of colour throughout

MASK: White, ornamented by six evenly spaced large round jet-black throat spots, the outer two being partially covered by the base of the cheek patches. The white of the mask extending over the frontal and crown, to merge with the black undulations at the back of the head.
